Party Planning Tips

Are You Planning a Holiday Party? (Keep it Safe)

  • Start early (some people start as early as January of the current year)
  • Decide how many people and who you want to invite
  • Of course, know your budget!
  • Where do you want to hold your event and how do you want to decorate the venue
  • Create an incredible menu that will please the majority (variety of meat, chicken, fish, vegetarian, and gluten free) – Hire a caterer and let them slave all day in the kitchen.
  • Get the Party Started with group activities such as a scavenger hunt (DJ’s can be great for ice breakers and back ground music)
  • If you serve alcohol, have plenty of food and keep your eye on your guests so they do not drink too much and hire a bartender if you can
  • Stop serving alcohol 1 hour before the party is over
  • Offer Uber, Lyft, Taxi cabs, scooter and pedi cabs to anyone that might need a ride home
  • If this overwhelms you, Call me, Karen Clements for any questions and I would be happy to help you and let me do ALL the work!
  • Add table/food signs and flowers or decor to make your presentation POP
  • Rent Cocktail Tables, linens, and lighting

Some Suggestions for Small Business Parties:

  • Hire a bus and take your associates or friends to the Lights at the Virginia Beach boardwalk or Botanical Garden in Norfolk
  • Rent a private Tram through the Garden of Lights at Botanical Garden with your guests
  • American Indoor Carting – just a fun way to entertain and a bit of competition!
  • Bowling Center for something different  (I love to bowl, so anytime you want to invite me, I am there!)
  • Hunt Club Farm is a great place to hold a party
  • Casino Parties with Photo booths and video Pods are fun and entertaining
  • Murder Mystery Party (a private party or join the fun with other guests)
  • Themed parties can be fun (Masquerade, Hollywood, Roaring 20’s, Cruise, Tropical, etc)
  • Progressive Party (Start at one house for appetizers, another for dinner and a third house for the desserts)
  • Open house at your office and invite clients, friends, business associates
  • Restaurants are cheaper then banquet hall or hotels (Many are open for private events or rooms)
  • Have your party during the week or during lunch time as a way to save some dough
  • How about a Potluck (everyone brings something to share and you can even cater the main entree)
  • Need more ideas, just shoot me an email and I will put my thinking cap on and see what I can come up with
